5 Wedding Makeup Tips

Anti-shine
Every woman wants to look beautiful on their wedding day, feel glamorous and be the envy of her friends, and of course for the groom to say “wow”. You also want to be photogenic, and have your wedding makeup last all day. The first thing you should do is apply a good quality anti-shine liquid or powder to your forehead, nose and chin. You should put moisturizer on your neck and the rest of your face. Wedding makeup is all about doing it right the first time, you can do it yourself, or have it professionally done. For those ladies younger than 40 it is suggested to go for the natural look, for this use a sheer color. For ladies that are 40+, the neutral look is best, and use monochromatic shades.
Concealer
This is the base of all your wedding makeup, if this is the wrong color for your skin tone or you apply too much, the look can be a bit fake. Remember you want a “natural” look. Two shades of cream based concealers are best, say the experts. Use concealer on red or dark areas and under your eyes, and a highlighter at your brow line, around lips and eye area, also the cleft of the chin and nose sides. Stroke it on with an acrylic artists brush, and then gently blend it in with a soft makeup sponge. If this is done properly, you will need less foundation.
Foundation
It is very important to match your skin tone with the foundation color. Use only the absolute minimum amount, because heavily applied foundation will make imperfect skin look worse. Make sure to use a sheer foundation. If you have an oily skin, use a matte liquid foundation, and a cream for dry to normal skin. Makeup professionals like to use the five drop method; that is one drop on your forehead, tip of your nose and chin and one on each of your cheeks. Blend in the five drops on your face.
Youthful Look
There are many new products on the market that can give you that “youthful glow”. If you are in your twenties or thirties, there are creamy luminescent blushes, shadows and highlighting sticks from which to choose. Purchase quality products, because not only will you use them for your wedding makeup, but for special occasions after your big day. If you are over forty, do not use luminescent products, as this often detracts from the neutral look that you should be seeking. There are two shades that work on any skin tone, golden bronze and mauve. For highlighting the brow bone and top of the cheekbone use the mauve color, for contouring the jaw line and cheekbone use the golden bronze.
Experimenting
Try experimenting with your wedding makeup several times before the big event, this will leave you confident in the knowledge that you have prepared well, and you will not be worrying on the morning of your wedding day. Also, stick to classic colors for your lipstick such as burgundy or deep reds, so as not to detract from the color of your eyes.
